Son Sant Joan Airport also known as Palma de Mallorca Airport is situated 8 km eastof Palma the capital of Mallorca, closest to the town of Can Pastilla. This airport it is the third largest airport in Spain.  It is also one of the busiest airports in Europe during the months of summer.It even accommodated 22.7 million passengers in the year 2011. This airport is the major base hub for the Spanish carrier, Air Europa and Air Berlin, a German carrier.

Son Sant Joan Airport has an area of 6.3 km2. Due to the large number of passengers annually, additional infrastructures and facilities were built to the two terminals , terminals A (1965) and B (1972). Local architect Pere Nicolau Bonet designed this main terminal. It was officially opened on 12 April 1997. There are four modules: Module A, Module B, Module C and Module D airport consisted. The airport can accommodate as many as 25 million passengers annually. It has a capacity to serve 12,000 passengers per hour. The airports future plans include accommodating 38 million passengers by the year 2015.
